The Early Days
In 1996 Maris began promoting energy efficient compact fluorescent lights to the hospitality industry….. years before “going green” was the thing to do. Over time the industry began to recognize the value of energy wasted by old fashioned incandescent bulbs and embraced the new energy sipping lighting technology.
We approached Bristol Hotels, who was at the time the largest owner of Holiday Inn properties, with the concept. Following careful consideration and field tests, Bristol began an aggressive expansion and renovation program, converting their entire portfolio of Holiday Inns, Courtyards, Fairfield’s, Hampton Inns and Days Inns to our CFLs. A short time later Adams Mark, a premier owner of large convention and resort properties also converted their portfolio of 48 properties.
Over the years that followed, Maris guided a steady stream of hotels, large and small, to “GO GREEN”. Relationships were built, skills were honed and corporate character was proven.
Growing Up
As our understanding of the hospitality industry expanded, so did our commitment to it. Customers brought to us needs that could not be addressed with compact fluorescent lighting such as dimming applications, parking areas, exit signs and decorative locations. To maintain our commitment to our hospitality customers we broadened our product line to include a full array of lighting products.
Our growth from “specialty lighting boutique” to “full line distributor” was formalized in 2001, creating Maris Lighting Company LLC.
Our commitment and ability to serve the needs of our customers has been enhanced by our growth. Our first love continues to be energy conservation through improved technology.
Who we are today
Today our product line includes a complete selection of traditional incandescent, fluorescent, halogen and metal halide bulbs. We also offer many interior and exterior fixtures, emergency lights and exit signs as well as the ballasts and batteries to make them all work.
We remain true to our first love of energy conservation through improved technology. As a result, we have one of the widest, leading edge offerings of compact fluorescent lights available. We are also introducing an exciting family of Induction fixtures and retrofit kits which will reduce electrical consumption by 50% compared to current Metal Halide technology commonly used in exterior and high ceiling lighting applications.
Today our customers range from some of the biggest companies in the industry to the small independent motels next door. Here at Maris we have learned that our ultimate product isn't the bulbs we provide, but the service to offer to our clients. If you have not experienced buying light bulbs the Maris Way, learn more and give us a try. |
